SEAPORT-e MAC - Functional Area 14 : SOW Paragraph 3.14
Interoperability, Test and Evaluation, Trials Support

GPA Team member, Santa Barbara Applied Research, Inc. (SBAR) not only supports the INMARSAT group, it leads the group in exploring ways to do things better. SBAR has been deeply involved in evaluating the INMARSAT performance and capabilities providing justification to upgrade from the INMARSAT A to the B system in order to provide a voice/data connection to ships at sea. The INMARSAT system usage has increased in support of mission requirements, placing greater demand on performance. SBAR is providing support to double the data rate in the short term and working with the manufacturer to develop a four-fold increase in operating bandwidth. SBAR has provided design review, testing, analysis, and mechanical engineering support for the anti-jam GPS antenna under development.

Under this contract SBAR has also designed and produced many documents including the INMARSAT user’s handbook which addresses integration plans technical approach, interface requirements, electrical and physical layout and other requirements necessary for the complete integration of the subsystem components.
